Aditya Sreekumar — Cruise LLC - Engineering Manager

I have worked professionally for more than 10 years in embedded systems, and 2 years in research in Robotics during my graduate degree program.

In Embedded Systems, I have worked on a broad stack of technical problems – 8 bit bare metal microcontrollers, RTOSs on 8 and 32 bit micros, embedded linux OS bringup, embedded linux based application development, middleware development and robotics application development. I have gone through the product life cycle in product companies, from product requirements gathering, system design, software design, software implementation and unit testing, manufacturing testing and production roll out to customers.

In Robotics, my focus has been on building highly performant solutions to existing algorithmic problems as they pertain to resource constrained systems. During this, I have dived deep into middleware implementations and have led implementation on a variety of operating systems to leverage the capabilities of the underlying embedded system. I have recently been also focused on using digital signal processors to optimize algorithms implemented for general purpose processors.

From a leadership standpoint, I have served as a technical lead on projects for many years, eventually building out the first Embedded Systems team at Motional focused on both safety critical processors as well as application specific boards for accelerating perception pipelines. Today, I lead a team of engineers focused on developing the first DSP integrated solution on custom silicon for Autonomous Driving solutions. I have managed teams of full time engineers and contractors, building teams from 3 people to 20 people.

I have also given back in term of open source projects in robotics and published articles in media. I also have received 2 patents and published multiple papers during the course of my career.
