Brigitte Sitzberger — Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company - Advisor, Human Capital and Emiratization

I am a seasoned Human Capital professional with 24 years of pertinent experience in both the private and public sectors worldwide. Before joining Masdar in April 2016, I founded and managed Globalmindsets Limited, an international human capital consultancy dedicated to assisting emerging market clients in achieving quantifiable business outcomes through an array of integrated services. For over nine years, I effectively developed and managed crucial strategic HR initiatives for global multinational corporations, including Etihad Airways, Bayer, ThyssenKrupp, and MTV Networks International, among others. My consulting work took me to Bangladesh, Russia, the UK, Germany, and Central and Eastern Europe, where I managed human capital programs designed to support corporate strategies. These included employer branding and communications strategies, tailored recruitment solutions, performance management systems, organizational design, HR due diligence, and post-merger integration programs.

In 2009, I relocated to Abu Dhabi to join the Advanced Technology Investment Company (ATIC), a Mubadala company, as the Associate Director of Human Capital for Abu Dhabi Ecosystem Development. Over the course of two years, I was responsible for assessing the human capital demand-supply gap and formulating strategies and programs to meet ATIC’s ambitious plans to establish a semiconductor lab in Abu Dhabi.

I began my professional career with Bertelsmann AG, a global media, services, and education company operating in approximately 50 countries worldwide. Over five years, I assumed increasingly senior and strategic HR roles in the Republic of Korea, Germany, and China. I was responsible for setting up the HR function for the company’s Asia-Pacific region in Shanghai, China, where I spearheaded Bertelsmann’s image-building, sourcing, recruitment/placement, and management development activities in the region, with full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility.
