Rafa Abdul — Amazon Web Services - Technical Program Manager II

I have over 10 years of experience in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) domain and Data Center Infrastructure Planning & Delivery. I also specialize in managing complex cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with executives to deliver strategic programs. In my recent role is as a Technical Program Manager II at Amazon Web Services in Seattle, WA, where I have been working since March 2021. In this role, I have: 1. Led the comprehensive delivery of physical infrastructure components for over 100 Data Center (DC) BOMs (e.g. Long Lead Equipment (LLE), Shell and Data Hall) within PLM, collaborating daily with specialized teams to ensure timely delivery without capacity constraints. 2. Led the efforts to migrate Power & Cooling (PAC) asset location data to Oracle PLM from a legacy tool for 530 sites globally, improving asset validation by 98%. 3. Led process improvement for Data Center Design Limitations with the engineering team and Colo vendors, reducing low-density rack landings globally by 86%, equivalent to $48MM in cost savings. 

 

Prior to Amazon, I was a PLM Solution Architect at WaterFurnace International in Fort Wayne, IN from June 2017 to March 2021. In this role, I have: 1.Designed and implemented change management in Teamcenter PLM to optimize engineering processes and reduce lead time by 50% across the Product Lifecycle Management cycle. 2. Led and implemented Teamcenter Product Configurator–Bill of Material (BOM) in collaboration with Siemens, providing variability management solutions and introducing 100% manufacturing BOM. 3. Collaborated with Product Managers to develop a roadmap and vision for Teamcenter integration in Industry Solutions and trained over 100 new users in PLM Change Management. 4. Implemented Active Workspace, a web-solution CAD Management solution, and configured its extension layers with UI customization, increasing product usability by 50%. 

 

Before that, I was a PLM Engineer at TATA (GE Oil & Gas) in Hyderabad, India from January 2012 to March 2015. In this role, I have: 1. Developed user & organization load Perl scripts that created an organizational tree, users, and assigned them to groups, roles, and default volumes, reducing manual creation time by 80%. 2. Ensured smooth deployment of BMIDE customizations using hot, cold deploy, and Live Updates techniques, reducing delivery of custom configurations by 30%. 3. Implemented data migration strategy using PLMXML import/export and defined transfer nodes in Teamcenter PLM, reducing migration time by 50%. 

 

Educationally, I have a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, which I completed from August 2015 to May 2017. I also have a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from GITAM University in India, which you completed from June 2008 to April 2012.
