John Anand Lourdusamy — Capital One Financial - Senior Engineering Manager

John Anand Lourdusamy is a seasoned technology leader with over 16 years of experience in the financial technology sector, specializing in software engineering, enterprise platform architecture, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). He is known for driving innovative solutions that enhance the scalability, availability, and security of enterprise systems. 

 

Currently serving at Capital One, John has made significant contributions to the development of a centrally orchestrated CI/CD pipeline that supports over 15,000 developers and facilitates the delivery of software that serves millions of customers. His expertise spans across designing highly available platforms, automating workflows, and integrating security and compliance into development processes. John also led the development of automated incident management systems, helping streamline the organization’s incident response and risk mitigation practices. 

 

Previously, John worked at Citigroup from 2008 to 2015, where he was instrumental in aligning Citigroup’s digital banking systems with FFIEC standards, especially in multi-factor authentication (MFA) and access control. His leadership during the 2012-2013 DDoS attacks helped the organization maintain operations while mitigating cyber threats and ensuring compliance. 

 

John’s contributions have been recognized through multiple Tech X Awards at Capital One, including accolades for his work in CICD pipeline enhancement and microservices for critical APIs. He holds several patents in incident management, SRE, and risk management technologies, demonstrating his ability to drive innovation that shapes the future of technology in financial services. Additionally, he is a Senior IEEE Member and a Forbes Technology Council Member. 

 

In addition to his technical expertise, John actively contributes to the tech community by mentoring and judging competitions, including events hosted by the Technology Students Associations in Virginia and Washington State, DECA, and Finovate. His leadership extends beyond the workplace, and he continues to shape the next generation of technology leaders.
